    The Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Information Systems with an appointment to begin Fall 2025.

    Position
    The ideal candidate for this position should have the ability to successfully teach a variety of upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses related to information systems (IS). Depending on the candidate’s capabilities and the needs of the Department, such courses may include artificial intelligence / machine learning for business, blockchain technologies, databases and business intelligence, data as well as process analysis and mining, telecommunication and networks, enterprise systems, information security, IS management, IT project management, programming concepts, systems analysis & design, etc. Current ISDS faculty are active researchers in a variety of areas relating to information systems, data science, and operations management, and candidates must therefore have a clear research agenda with the potential for high-quality scholarly publications. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require a strong record of research. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise students, serve on committees, contribute to and participate in the life and development of the Department, and participate in the broader University and disciplinary communities.

    Required Qualifications
    • Applicants must have (or expect to receive before the effective date of appointment) a doctoral degree with a primary area of study in Information Systems or a closely related field such as Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Cognitive / Behavioral Science, Decision Science, or Business Analytics.
    • Demonstrated record of or potential for conducting high-quality IS research.
    • Demonstrated experience in or potential for excellence in teaching a variety of upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses. Teaching responsibilities will focus primarily on IS-related topics, but this may evolve over time according to the candidate’s capabilities and the Department’s needs.
    • Demonstrated commitment to effectively interact with and successfully teach students from intersecting marginalized social groups.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited business school or prior record of success at an AACSB-accredited business school.
    • Technical skills in areas such as programming, AI/machine learning, databases, or related business technologies.

Review of applications will begin on July 15, 2024 and will continue until the position has been filled. The anticipated appointment date is August 18, 2025. Several faculty members from the ISDS Department will attend the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in August, and applicants attending the conference who have a strong potential for success will be invited to meet with these faculty for a preliminary interview.

    The ISDS department consists of a large, diverse, and supportive group of faculty who have expertise and interests in a vast array of information systems-related and data science-related technologies and phenomena. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers concentrations in Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Decision Sciences, as well as joint concentrations in both Marketing and Information Systems and Accounting and Information Systems. At the graduate level, the Department offers a Master of Science in Information Systems program with concentrations in either Business Analytics or Information Systems Management, as well as a fully online and nationally ranked Master of Science in Information Technology program with concentrations in either Data Science or IT Management. ISDS faculty members are active researchers with publications in top tier IS Journals such as Management Information Systems Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal among others. ISDS faculty are also very active in the College’s MBA programs, including supporting MBA concentrations in Information Systems and Business Analytics, as well as the College’s cohort-based Fully Employed MBA program.

    Compensation
    The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,925 to $12,594 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $10,181 to $10,380 per month.

    Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ( https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm ).

    Summer research grants, paid Summer teaching, funds to cover moving expenses, start-up funds, reduced teaching load, and travel support as well as professional development activities support opportunities may be available.
