Nature of Work:Performs skilled work in the operation of complex construction/maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for performing tasks of more than average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Tasks at times are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful. Under general supervision, employees are required to exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks and work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained.
Regular Hours are 7 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. but are subject to change based on division needs and urgent work situations. Will be on a rotating, On-Call list for standby duty.
Minimum RequirementsAbility to read, write and follow instructions,
plus two (2) years’ experience in the operation of assigned equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A, B required prior to employment depending on equipment assigned to position.
Some positions may require a tanker endorsement permit prior to employment. FLORIDA COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE NUMBER (CLASS B MINIMUM) WITH TANKER ENDORSEMENT OR EQUIVALENT FROM ANOTHER STATE MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. - Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
