Education and/or Equivalent Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or related field plus five (5) years of related work experience including two (2) years as a project manager.
OR
- Nine (9) years of work experience in engineering, architecture or related area including two (2) years as a project manager.
- A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience requirement.

The
Sidewalk Program Construction Manager and
Urban Trails Construction Manager positions are senior leadership roles within the Sidewalk and Urban Trails Division. Each of the positions will manage a portfolio of construction projects and lead a team of up to six Project Coordinators and Project Managers.
These positions will coordinate with City of Austin staff, partner transportation agencies, contractors, and affected stakeholders to manage construction of dozens of pedestrian, bicycle, and multi-modal infrastructure projects each year. These positions may also update and brief City staff and Council Members on projects and programs.

- Experience implementing ADA requirements in conjunction with pedestrian improvement projects, including TAS and PROWAG .
- A thorough understanding of City of Austin Transportation Plans and Policies related to sidewalks and urban trails including but not limited to the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan; Sidewalks, Crossings and Shared Streets Plan; and Urban Trails Plan.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Resolve escalated project claims, disputes and contentious issues. Manage, review, approve and process contracts and documents. Manage and initiate review and/or design of engineering/architectural projects, including related documentation. Assigns projects, establishes schedule, monitors performance of staff, provides guidance and leadership, and ensures project completion within timelines. Inspect and monitor projects for legal, regulatory and initiative compliance. Develop standard operating procedures, policies, and ordinances. Develop and monitor performance criteria. Manage project budget and schedule. Administer consultant, licensed professional, and Legal Department services. Provide technical advice and assistance to city management, field personnel, contractors, etc. Attend City Council, board meetings, etc. as City staff representative. Coordinate the analysis of site selection.
