    The Position

    Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Maintenance Repair Specialist performs a variety of skilled work in mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct and/or maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds. Skilled maintenance repair duties include, but are not limited to, basic plumbing, carpentry, interior and exterior painting, minor electrical repairs, preventative maintenance, grounds maintenance, and vehicle maintenance. This position is located with Norther Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks, NV.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. This position requires an applicant be at least 18 years of age upon application. If selected, proof of being at least 18 years of age will be required. This position is subject to standby and call back status. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position may require flexible/rotating shifts. This position may require work on nights/weekends/holidays. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
