TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the License Manager, this position performs routine (journey-level) accounts examination work including examining, auditing, and processing of recreational and/or commercial hunting and fishing license applications, permits, and entries into the automated licensing system. Answers inquiries by phone (phone queue), mail, and email, and provides guidance to the general public, license agents, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Offices regarding hunting and fishing regulations, customer accounts, and the issuance of recreational and commercial hunting and fishing licenses. Analyzes, edits, and completes source documents in support of the automated recreational and commercial hunting and fishing license system. Processes, examines, edits, and updates accounts. Contacts applicants, license holders, and license agents to resolve account problems. Assists with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) associated with automated license system. Assists, reviews, prepares, and responds to open records requests according to department and section policy and procedures. Assists with recreational and commercial hunting and fishing inventory as assigned. Responsible for completing assigned tasks and assisting in other areas during peak workload periods. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

NOTE: Telework for this position is eligible for 1 day per week after probational period.



Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

One year of experience specifically related to customer service in person and/or over the phone, accounting, auditing or relevant quality control and written correspondence and processing and reviewing transactions.

Licensure:

Applicant must possess or be able to obtain and hold within 30 days of employment, a Texas class "C" driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience:

Experience in working in a phone queue environment;

Experience in reviewing and auditing applications;

Experience in written communications;

Experience in planning and arranging workload tasks to meet schedules;

Experience in identifying errors during reviews while taking and/or recommending appropriate corrective actions for resolution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of accounting and auditing procedures, processes, and techniques;

Knowledge of general office procedures;

Knowledge of automated system processing;

Knowledge of state tax laws, rules, and regulations;
