Job Description

Pay Range: $22.02/hr. - $27.52/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

An Instrumentation and Electrical Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department in the Plant Operations Division.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years’ experience in instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance or process controls
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a maintenance electrician’s license within three (3) years of employment or an Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology
  • Must be able to pass physical and drug screen
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician responsibilities include:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electric components and instrumentation pertinent o the water and wastewater treatment process
  • Inspect and maintain medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment such as switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, selector switches, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Maintain active logs of daily activities and field documentation
  • Provide technical support to co-workers, supervisory staff and other sections within the division and department.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
