The Position

Prison Milker milks cows, cleans milking and milk handling equipment, oversees and instructs inmates; and does related work as required at a prison dairy.

The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for a Prison Milker at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent will supervise milking operations of lactating cows. Perform maintenance on milking system as needed. Incumbent will assist with other farm related duties as needed. Incumbent will need to maintain health of cows and perform other assigned duties as needed. Knowledge of herd health and location cycle is imperative. Record keeping is required. Incumbent must be willing to work weekends and holidays. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of experience milking cows on a milk production line using mechanized milking equipment. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
