CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Patrol city parks, playgrounds, restrooms and other public facilities to enforce park rules and regulations. Maintain logs, write/make reports and related work as assigned. Work schedule will occasionally be varied, regular schedule will include weekends and weeknight evenings. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Parks Infrastructure Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following list reflects the essential job duties and responsibilities of this classification but should not be considered all-inclusive. The incumbent will be expected to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Requires a varied schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Performs a basic recreation support, events support, facility rental, and routine enforcement of park rules and regulations, and related work as apparent or assigned.
  • Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Parks Infrastructure Supervisor.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must maintain a level of mental and physical fitness required to perform the essential functions of this classification.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • First Aid/CPR Card
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Experience working in an outdoor environment with extreme temperatures (hot/cold) and wind.
  • Ability to work late evening shifts..

DESIRED QUALIFACTIONS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Suite products.
  • Prior experience with policy enforcement
  • Previous Park Ranger experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Group presentation skills.
  • Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:
To perform the essential functions of the classification, incumbents must be able to meet the following physical requirements:
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

This position is not subject to health benefits, but this position is eligible participate in the Washington State Retirement System (PERS) and the Washington State Paid Sick Leave accruing 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Also, eligible for holiday pay at a pro-rated basis.
