JOB SUMMARY

The Town of Prosper is currently seeking qualified and dedicated individual
for the position of:

Parks, Maintenance Worker.

Salary Range: $38,738.61- $52,411.07
Hiring Range: $38,738.61 - $45,574.84

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Performs general maintenance, repairs and installations at Town parks, medians, right of way areas, athletic fields, and municipal facilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED, Receives general direction from the Senior Parks Planner and Recreation Planner.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintains, installs, and replaces landscaping in city parks, right of way areas, medians, and municipal facilities.
  • Maintains athletic fields and monitors grounds for safety hazards.
  • Monitors irrigation systems and water lines for leaks and repairs or replaces as needed.
  • Paints, repairs, and maintains equipment, furniture, facilities, and playground components.
  • Assists in setting up forms and pouring and finishing concrete.
  • Installs signs, plumbing, irrigation components, electrical fixtures, plugs and cabling.
  • Organizes tools, equipment and supplies necessary to complete assignments.
  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment and tools in a safe operating order.
  • Cleans work sites and performs routine inspections of assigned areas to detect any necessary repairs.
  • Cleans restrooms and other public areas.
  • Assists in the setup, teardown, and cleanup for special events and meetings.
  • Perform such other duties as may be specified by the Town Council, Town Manager, Director of Development Services, Senior Parks and Recreation Planner, Town Charter, or the laws of the State of Texas.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
  • General maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Operation and maintenance of assigned light equipment, power and hand tools.
  • Safe handling techniques of hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Town policies and procedures.
Ability to:
  • Prioritize and organize various assignments to produce efficient results.
  • Plan and organize materials and supply necessary to complete work orders or daily assignments.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Operate assigned equipment and tools.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Provide tactful and appropriate responses to inquiries from the public, other departments, or agencies.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Operate various equipment including a front-end loader, mowers, bobcat, gator, tiller, augur, chain saw, stump grinder, jack hammer, power sprayer, edger, weed-eater, grass blower, drills, pick-up truck, box blade, infield rascal, and other equipment as necessary.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
