Job Description

This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the TCICT Department. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the Tulare County Information and Communication Technology (TCICT) department located in Visalia.

Typical Duties

Keep records and compile stock reports of items stored in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Receive, inventory, store, and issue information technology and telecommunications equipment. Conduct periodic inventories and advise purchasing staff on inventory levels. Package equipment for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling), load materials and equipment onto trucks or other vehicles, unload materials and equipment from trucks and other vehicles. Prepare information technology and telecommunications equipment for surplus, ensuring the destruction of all client data before shipping. Operate and perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, packaging devices, and data destruction equipment. Ensure stored material is secure, and that locks, cameras and alarms are operational and in use. Report any discrepancies immediately. Maintain organized, clean stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Ensure safe operation of vehicles and warehouse facilities.

Employment Standards

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or equivalent.

Experience: Level I: Six (6) months experience assisting in a stock/storeroom or warehouse, storing, shipping, and receiving supplies, materials, and/or mail, and keeping a variety of records, such as inventory. Level II: One (1) year as a County of Tulare IT Logistics Technician I or two (2) years of experience in equipment stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards operations.

Knowledge of: Methods of receiving, storage, and delivery of materials. Methods of materials handling and safe driving practices.

Skill/Ability to : Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers. Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Walk and/or drive for extended periods. Maintain written records. Provide excellent customer service and interpersonal / communication skills.

License: Must complete all County requirements as a forklift operator within 6 months of hire.Must possess or have the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.

Other Requirements : This position may work in County law enforcement and detention facilities. Applicants must undergo a non-sworn law enforcement background investigation and receive security clearance from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and maintain that clearance for the duration of employment.

Conditions of Employment
Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. Retirement:
The retirement plan is a defined benefit plan administered pursuant to the 1937 Act County Employees Retirement Act and integrated with Social Security. In addition to ordinary retirement benefits, the plan provides disability and death benefits. Retirement contributions are made by both the County and the employee. The County has reciprocity with the State of California, contracting PERS agencies, and all County 1937 Act Retirement Systems.

Paid Holiday Leave: 12 set days and 1 personal holiday.

Vacation Accrual:

2 weeks per year (0-3 years of service)
3 weeks per year (3-7 years of service)
4 weeks per year (7-11 years of service)
5 weeks per year (11+ years of service)
Limit of 300 hours.

Sick Leave Accrual: 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation, 50 hours of which may be used toward family sick leave.

Group Term Life Insurance and AD&D: $10,000; Provided by Standard Insurance Company.

Disability Insurance:
Employees are covered by State Disability Insurance. The premium is paid by the employee.

Deferred Compensation: A voluntary deferred compensation plan is available.
