Housing Demolition Officer, Senior

General Description and Classification Standards

The purpose of this job is to make cost analysis (after determining the extent of deterioration) as to the value of vacant structures citywide. Additional duties include testifying and making recommendations before a public board for the disposition of such structures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. Knowledge of and proficient with computers. Ability to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and activities. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of the city as they relate to the department. Ability to supervise subordinates. Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner. Has good organizational, management, human relations, and technical skills. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information. Ability to read, understand, and interpret inspection and demolition reports and related materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Must possess an Associate's Degree in Business or real estate, (A Bachelor’s Degree is Preferred, but not required). Must pass a background check. Should possess a valid Georgia driver's license. A minimum 2 years’ experience in the appraisal of real estate.
