DEPARTMENT: Civil Engineering POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool - Civil Engineering POSITION DETAILS: The Department of Civil Engineering serves almost 800 undergraduate majors and more than 60 graduate students. The Department offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs in civil engineering. Most recently, the Department was ranked 8th among non-doctorate granting institutions by the U.S. News & World Report. The Department is thriving with its diverse student population, diverse faculty, and strong industry and alumni support. The Department of Civil Engineering is interested in hiring part-time lecturers in all areas of Civil Engineering including Environmental Engineering; Transportation Engineering; Surveying; Engineering Graphics/CAD; Engineering Statistics; Hydraulics; Water Resources Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Structural Engineering, to teach both lower and upper division required and elective courses. Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional and/or teaching experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. A semester's worth of compensation is made up of six (6) payments of the given amount. The Department offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs in civil engineering. Head of the Architectural Engineering Department The Architectural Engineering Department in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a full-time Department Head at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin September 16, 2024. The position is tenure track with the possibility for tenure to be granted at the time of the appointment. Head of the Architectural Engineering Department The Architectural Engineering Department in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a full-time Department Head at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin September 16, 2024. The position is tenure track with the possibility for tenure to be granted at the time of the appointment. The Position: Assistant Professor of Architecture Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Architecture (CPP ARC ) is seeking a new Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Architecture to join the faculty in Fall 2024. We are especially interested in candidates who are committed to advancing the discipline and profession of architecture and who demonstrate an ability or potential to actively engage in and support Inclusivity within our diverse academic community. The new faculty member will teach architecture core studios (1st, 2nd or 3 rd year), upper level elective design studios, technical lecture courses, and elective seminars within the B. Arch and M. Arch programs. The new faculty member will also engage in service by contributing to the operations of the department, college, and university. Faculty will participate in creative/scholarly activities that contribute to their teaching. We welcome candidates who bring one or more of the following expertise: Integration of Technology in Design & Construction, Structural Design, Sustainable & Preservation Practices, Material Research, and Current Trends in Architectural Design Thinking and Research. Minimum requirements include: Possess an advanced degree (Master or PhD) in architecture or a related field(s) to the position description. At least one degree must be in architecture from a NAAB accredited or equivalent program. The candidate must have completed the advanced degree by the start of the appointment. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Preferred candidates will demonstrate a capacity in a majority of the following: Experience teaching or potential to teach building technologies, materials, envelopes, structural systems, sustainable and preservation practices, and/or assessing building performance. Record of experience in the coordination of students and faculty in a design studio and/or student advising, student research or student club activities Evidence of advancing academic knowledge and/or practice of architecture through research, scholarship, and/or creative activities as described in the position. Licensed to practice architecture or on the path to licensure in the United States. Record of service on university committees, and/or service to the discipline of architecture and/or professional organizations, and/or community organizations.
