Position Summary Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Care and Academic Initiatives for Residential Education, the General Advisor & Retention Specialist has responsibility for developing and implementing advising and programs that facilitate growth in the areas of scholarship, personal and leadership development, citizenship, mentorship, and campus engagement. Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions & Program Evaluations (GAPE) in the College of Graduate Studies, the Evaluation Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing the communication plan and evaluation of all new and continuing graduate students, including blended program students, attempting to complete Title 5, CSU and University graduate admissions and degree requirements. The Evaluation Specialist evaluates complex academic records/credentials of students applying for admission to the university and/or graduate programs or for graduation. The Evaluation Specialist’s responsibilities include the evaluation of complex policy and exceptions, SEVIS requirements, international records or non-standard college transcripts and also to serve as a resource person to Graduate Program Evaluators. These responsibilities also include presentations regarding policy and practice, project coordination, and specialized support for the GAPE office. In addition, the position conducts international and domestic graduate admissions evaluation and graduation assessment, ensures timely visa processing, coordinates the practice of upholding all policies set by the Director of GAPE, and actively collaborates with other university staff involved in various aspects of admissions and records processing to ensure that interrelated processes are completed in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities Assess and evaluate academic records of graduate international and domestic applicants for admission to the university, including the support of blended programs. Evaluate and certify complex credentials and transcripts for international and domestic applicants; process credentials based on established graduation and admissions guidelines and policies; ensure authenticity of documents; evaluate credentials for graduate programs. Review and verify that appropriate documents have been submitted by the applicant to determine the applicant’s admission eligibility under the various Chancellor’s Office and campus regulations and procedures. Evaluate and assess eligibility for advancement to candidacy and graduation. Prepare and transmit individualized evaluations of transfer credit; advise on fulfillment of remaining requirements for graduation; perform graduation evaluation. Provide training and instructional presentations on international evaluation. Maintain computerized student files, applications and credentials; verify, add, delete and correct permanent student records. Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions & Program Evaluations (GAPE) in the College of Graduate Studies, the Evaluation Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing the communication plan and evaluation of all new and continuing graduate students, including blended program students, attempting to complete Title 5, CSU and University graduate admissions and degree requirements.
