    Salary:

    Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
    Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 - $13,224 per month
    Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 - $14,523 per month
    Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 - $15,211 per month

    Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries At-a-Glance guide for more information.

    Position Summary:

    The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024-25 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or equivalent. CMSD 156 - Bachelor’s degree and teaching, cultural, and sign language experience. (ASHA certification and CA licensure are not required for this course.)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience teaching or clinical experience in the subject area of interest. Currency in the field with an active California state license and ASHA certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology. Preference for Bilingual candidates and candidates with experience working with diverse populations.

    Responsibilities:

    Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

    The Department:

    Communication Sciences and Disorders (CMSD) is a program in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences. The CMSD Program offers a BS and MS degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Masters degree recipients are also eligible for a Speech-Language Services credential.

    CMSD courses address the scientific framework for understanding human communication, focusing on anatomical, physiological, neurological, acoustic, psychological and cultural bases of speech, language, and hearing processes and disorders. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based assessment and treatment.

    Coursework is supplemented by observation of expert clinical sessions that gives students experiences with disorders in the areas of language, voice and resonance, phonology, articulation, fluency, swallowing, hearing, cognitive and social aspects of communication, and problems that necessitate the use of oral, manual, augmentative and alternative communication techniques and technologies.
