Job Summary The Wellness and Health Promotion department supports the mission of the Student Wellness Center (SWC) by providing universal health promotion, education, and prevention programs which take place both within and outside of the SWC. The anticipated primary health specialty area of responsibility is sexual health in addition to supporting overall health promotion, education, and prevention within the department of wellness & Health Promotion and the greater Student Wellness Center. Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director for Educational Programs & Academic Support, the Assistant Director for Training and Assessment develops and coordinates the recruitment, training and assessment for the Student Success unit with SJSU Student Affairs. This development includes recruitment and selection of new peer educators, new peer educator training, and on-going professional development opportunities for all peer educators (academic peer educators, learning assistants, mentors and student assistants in the various departments, orientation leaders, supplemental instruction leaders, and tutors). This position will work closely with all of the departments in the Student Success Unit to provide assessment and support for accreditation efforts. In addition, this position will oversee a full-time professional staff member that supports outreach and workshops for various student success units. Key Responsibilities Manages the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new peer educators every semester. In collaboration with department leads, assesses hiring needs and coordinates common application and marketing materials to promote and yield highly qualified candidates for a variety of peer educator/mentor/student assistant positions. Oversees curriculum decisions, coordinates presenters, and facilitates new peer educator foundational training in collaboration with department leads. Designs, coordinates, and facilitates on-going professional development and community building/teamwork opportunities for new and returning peer educators in consultation with program directors. Provides support and guidance to program directors and program coordinators in the Student Success Unit for their program learning and development including the various levels of training and meetings. Guides and supports a graduate student and/or 2-4 peer educators to deliver learning and development opportunities to the Student Success Unit. Arranges and maintains training certification/documentation for the various affiliated associations to maintain accreditation - CRLA, UMKC - SI program, etc. This includes overseeing lesson plan development and assessment for all training programs to assure best practices are followed. Oversees assessment practices and assures adherence to mission and learning outcomes for the Student Success Unit. Develops assessment strategies to measure impact of program and workshop outreach efforts, including social media engagement across various online platforms. Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director for Educational Programs & Academic Support, the Assistant Director for Training and Assessment develops and coordinates the recruitment, training and assessment for the Student Success unit with SJSU Student Affairs. Position Description The purpose of this position is to provide clinical and clerical support to the school-based clinics and to ensure customer service needs are met in a professional manner. This position also assists the Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician’s Assistant (PA), MD, Nutritionist (RD), Health Educator (HE), and mental health staff with client (customer) care as needed. Job Duties and Responsibilities Prepare clients for visit, obtaining height, weight, BMI, vital signs as needed and current concern. Document results in electronic medical record -NextGen.Assist medical providers in clinic treatment procedures such as IUD (intrauterine device) insertions, dressing wounds and immunizations.Perform lab tests as directed by medical provider including urinalysis dipstick, rapid strep, hemoglobin, urine pregnancy tests. Perform venipuncture as needed.Prepare lab specimens for lab courier.Administer over the counter medications as directed by medical providers and document in medical record.Ensure billing encounter forms accurately reflect provider, diagnoses and services rendered in the electronic medical record billing charge template(superbill).Greet all clients as they enter the clinic for appointments and verify and/or change demographic and insurance information in the electronic practice management system. Required Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Completion of Medical Assisting program from an accredited school. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Two years of related experience. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must have current medical assistant certification or registration (CMA, RMA or NCMA) within one year of SBC employment. Also requires completion of 60 credits every five years to ensure continuing certification. More health systems are requiring certification in order to accept coding of various procedures.
