THE POSITION The City of Ventura Water Department is looking for a Utility Billing Specialist - Senior Utility Billing Specialist to join the team. We are seeking detailed oriented candidates who are dedicated to meeting customer expectations and requirements. This is a great entry level position for candidates with customer service experience and customer billing, clerical accounting experience or college level coursework in accounting, finance, business administration or the like. WHAT YOU’LL DO Reporting to the Utility Billing Supervisor, the Utility Billing Specialist - Senior Utility Billing Specialist is key to providing front line customer care and accounting work to Ventura Water customers daily. This team member handles a high volume of customer inquiries from open to close and is responsible for providing information and assistance to the public by phone, mail, and computer. Job Summary Assists with implementing and overseeing the City's cross-connection control program, municipal and plumbing code programs and services. Enforces relevant utility and plumbing codes and investigates violations at residential, commercial, construction and development sites. Representative Duties DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Field Inspector I : This is the entry-level classification in the Field Inspector series. Incumbents perform routine tasks in the inspection of various facilities plumbing systems and enforcement of violations. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently.
