Salary: $47,988.00 - $55,666.00 Annually USD

The Health Inspector performs investigative work on environmental health, safety hazards, and violations as well as advises contractors and property owners on steps to take to comply with applicable laws and regulations. Investigates complaints and advises parties involved of violations and necessary corrective actions, as appropriate.
Examples of Duties
Investigates environmental health and safety hazards or violations.
Creates reports to document findings of investigations.
Refers necessary violations, with supporting legal documentation, to Courts for legal processing.
Analyzes building sites, soils, and planning material for the purpose of permitting On-Site Sewage Facilities.
Reviews health and safety inspection reports and maintenance contracts for On-Site Sewage Facilities.
Contacts and communicates with citizens regarding health and safety regulations of environmental hazards and violations.
Collects payments for On-Site Sewage Facility permits.
Oversees inventory of precision surveying equipment and electronics owned by the Health Department.
Performs modern electronic office duties.
Works with GIS software as necessary.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
A Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is required.
Must be able to obtain TCEQ - Designated Representative certification within 6 months of employment.
Registered Sanitarian preferred.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
