Health Education Specialists provide direct interventions, consultation, and technical assistance to staff and the community. This position will be in the Chronic Disease Prevention Program. Duties of this position involve working with Solano County and city planners and stakeholders to address adding Public Health input into their General Plans, Specific Plans, and zoning discussions relative to helping the community’s built environment be more conducive to health promoting options such as biking, walking, connectivity, inclusion of grocery stores. In addition, this new position is forging the way in bringing the Public Health to the table in climate change discussions and plans to prevent/mitigate impacts of climate change on our local residents. Starting with air quality, fire threats, heat/cold, and sea level rise, this position is providing vital input into decisions. The incumbent will assess chronic disease needs of the community such as preventing hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. This position prepares and submits progress reports and identifies opportunities for new partnerships internally and externally to reach the goals of the work plan. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Experience: One year of full time, paid experience, in health promotion and education activities. Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university preferred in health education or in public health, education, health science, sociology, psychology or a related field including at least three college level classes in public health/health education or Certification as a Health Education Specialist (CHES). A Master’s degree in Public Health may be substituted for the experience. Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required. Job Summary This is one classification in a progressive series of Office Administration positions which focuses on a variety of administrative support and clerical functions including front desk/reception functions as assigned. Performs data entry within real property database for ownership changes based on valid recorded documents provided by other departments. Under oversight by Office Specialist, reviews non-commercial real property sales transactions, performing initial simple analysis processes to validate sales prices. Assists in administering various programs related to property tax exemptions, valuation freezes, and property tax deferrals, by reviewing applications, gathering supplemental documentation, and performing data entry functions. Under oversight by Office Specialist, reviews and routes workflow documents relating to creation or deletion of new parcels that result from splitting or combining existing parcels and performs data entry in real property database for non-complex parcel creation/deletions. Routes routine documents relating to ownership and improvement changes for centrally valued properties in conjunction to the Arizona Department of Revenue. Assists in reviewing annual centrally valued property data upload received from Arizona Department of Revenue for accuracy.
