This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Assessor/Clerk Recorder’s Office. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. This position is responsible to examine and process legal documents relating to such areas as real and personal property, marriage licenses, fictitious business name statements and notary public licenses; and to enter pertinent information from these documents in the computer. Typical Duties Examine documents for accuracy in order to determine their acceptability for recordation; read complex technical documents and enter required information into the computer to create official records and vital statistics indices; cite State and County laws, rules, regulations and policies which provide the basis for the acceptance or rejection of documents presented for public recordation; determine prescribed fees to be charged for the recording of documents; examine and certify maps for recordation; examine documents submitted for recordation to determine the applicability of the Documentary Stamp Act; calculate amount of tax due; answer questions of individuals, lending institutions, representatives of title insurance companies, attorneys, and real estate agents pertaining to public recordation of legal documents; assist in the use of records, index books and microfilm/scanned images; determine prescribed fees to be charged for the recording of documents.
