The New Jersey Judiciary seeks an individual to serve as a Research Analyst Manager to oversee research measuring the Judiciary's performance in the Family court system, with a particular focus on child welfare related dockets and civil. The Research Analyst Manager will perform a variety of senior-level research functions relating to the research study design and implementation.
The selected candidate will develop and use appropriate and sound methodology to design and manage research projects; perform simple to moderately complex statistical analysis of child welfare and civil data sets utilizing Focus/WebFocus, SAS or SPSS, Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, Python and other software; and prepare, present and disseminate research findings.
Remote Work: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule and this position may qualify for up to 3 days of work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Example of Duties:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
* Validate monthly, quarterly, twice-annual and annual statistical reports using Excel, SPSS, SQL, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI or other tools as appropriate.
* Translate requests for statistics and analyses into appropriate responses that may require designing research questions, understanding complex court data, discussion with internal stakeholders and extraction of data from systems.
* Design and implement civil and family court research.
* Extract data from court systems; validate data extracts; and conduct high-level statistical analysis on that data to answer research questions from both internal and external stakeholders.
* Convert complex data into understandable charts, graphs, reports and statistical presentations.
* Make oral presentations to judges, senior managers, and agencies and researchers outside of the Judiciary.
* Manage the family court and civil research team, which includes a statistical analyst and contractor.
* Collaborate with Automated Trial Court Services Unit on plans for data system updates from the data analysis perspective as needed.
* Facilitate the reporting of New Jersey statistics and court organization information to external stakeholders.
Salary range is $96,010.56 - $150,924.68. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant discipline from an accredited college or university along with five (5) years of professional administrative and/or program management experience; three (3) of which shall have included experience conducting social science research, including multivariate data analysis, experience in regression modeling and predictive analytics.
Note: Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree is preferred.
Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An Associate's degree and two (2) years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the required Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience as indicated above - OR - a Ph. D. or law degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience as indicated above.
