    Chief Building Official

    City of Pendleton – Building Division

    Pendleton, Oregon

    Annual Salary: $88,272 – $111,204 DOE/DOQ*

    *This position will likely receive a 3% – 5% COLA salary increase in July 2025.

    The City of Pendleton, Oregon is seeking an experienced Chief Building Official (CBO) to oversee both supervisory and technical duties related to the administration and enforcement of state building codes, ensuring compliance to safeguard public safety and health. The Chief Building Official will oversee a direct staff of two and an approximate FY 2025 budget of $500,000. Key responsibilities include providing technical advice on building codes to both the public and internal stakeholders, reviewing permit applications, and conducting inspections for mixed-use buildings in accordance with the International Code Council (ICC) and relevant local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in various building codes and remain current with code changes and updates. The next CBO will proactively approach challenges innovatively with a customer-service mindset, diplomatically engaging with contractors, internal stakeholders, clients, and the public.
