Known as Ski Town USA, the City of Steamboat Springs, Colorado (pop. 13,156, elev. 6,867 ft., 9.9 sq mi), is an iconic international ski destination, which has produced more Winter Olympians (over 100) than any other city in North America. With roots as an old cowboy mountain town, which later became a resort town, Steamboat Springs remains one of the most desirable locations in all of the Rocky Mountains. The 2025 budget of all funds is $150 million (GF $65.5 million), supporting 361 FTEs, including PTE, seasonal, and utilities. Anticipated reserves for the general fund at year-end 2025 are $25.2 million. The city’s values accurately describe its organizational culture: service, integrity, respect, teamwork, well-being, and compassion.
This opportunity is available with the announced retirement (late-January, 2025) of City Manager Gary Suiter, one of the most respected and experienced managers in the state, who has served the city capably for over eight and a half years. The next city manager will inherit a congenial, high-functioning, and experienced leadership team.

Graduate study in public administration or a related field and experience serving mountain, resort, or rural communities are preferred.
