    The Job

    This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special District employees who hold a regular, intern, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position.     The Innovation and Technology Department (ITD) is accepting applications for Senior Microsoft M365 Administrator*. This position will work in the Enterprise Infrastructure Division supporting the County's enterprise IT infrastructure.

    POSITION FOCUS

    The Senior Microsoft M365 Administrator* is responsible for the administration, governance, and operational support of the County’s Microsoft M365 collaboration and messaging platforms. This role provides enterprise-level support for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and Exchange Online, while also contributing to governance, automation, security, and continuous platform improvement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Microsoft M365 services, cloud administration, user and permissions management, and technical expertise across the Microsoft M365 ecosystem. The candidate will have a strong customer-service mindset, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across departments to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam prior to employment.

    Availability: Must be available to work On-Call in a 24x7 environment. Incumbents may occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
    Physical Requirements: Position requires multiple repetitive motions and the ability to lift at least 50 (fifty) pounds overhead.
    Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

    Minimum Requirements

    Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience, within the past five (5) years, performing systems administration of Microsoft technologies.

    Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

    Substitution:
    -An additional one (1) year of qualifying experience may substitute for 15 semester (23 quarter) units of the education requirement, up to 30 semester (45 quarter) units.
    -A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of qualifying experience.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the following:
    • Works well in a collaborative team environment
    • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or equivalent Helpdesk ticketing and management solutions.
    • Hands-on experience using Entra and Active Directory account management tools such as CoreView and Quest Active Roles
    • Demonstrated experience with enterprise data governance in MS Purview
    • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Entra, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, MS Defender
    • Experience analyzing complex Microsoft technologies to troubleshoot problems and make improvements
    • Ability to multitask on multiple projects and assignments in an organized manner
