    Supervisory positions at this level are accountable for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of databases or data integrations for assigned organizational areas. An incumbent typically manages a small team of data management staff and/or databases or data integrations of lesser complexity and/or risk and impact. The focus is on the adaptation and maintenance of existing databases. Additional duties include mentoring application development staff, which may include vendor staff.

    This position reports directly to the Database Manager of the State Data Center. This position will be responsible for supervising the SQL Server Database Services within the State Data Centers. The products this team supports are SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services. You will oversee the day-to-day activities of your team, ensuring system availability, proactive capacity management, and timely resolution of incidents. In addition, you may perform technical operations alongside your team to stay connected with the tools, platforms and processes they manage.

    • The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.


    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD), supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

    • Responsible for employee actions, including staffing, performance management, and development. Supervise the team, manage schedules, and assign duties. Coach and mentor employees on technical capabilities and work to remove cross-team roadblocks. Continuously monitor team performance for training and improvement opportunities
    • Perform technical work as necessary, including troubleshooting, configuration, lifecycle management, on SQL Server and SQL Reporting Services software
    • Implement methodologies to streamline the team’s workflow
    • Recommend appropriate technology to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
    • Collaborate with other leaders to support cross-domain initiatives and ensure reliable database services
    • Remain knowledgeable and up to date on trends in SQL Server and cloud database technologies
    • Actively contribute to strengthening the team and culture by assisting with other duties as needed
