This position serves as the Registered Nurse Specialist in Infection Prevention for the Missouri Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program. This position serves as subject matter expertise in infection prevention and control practices across a variety of healthcare settings within Missouri. This position leads efforts to assess healthcare facility infection prevention and control practices alignment with nationally recognized guidance. This positions assists with healthcare-associated infection and multidrug-resistant outbreaks, as needed. This position also serves as the Project Firstline lead for the HAI/AR Program with CDC.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in infection prevention and control practices across a variety of healthcare settings
- Serves as Project Firstline Lead with CDC and internal/external Project Firstline partners
- Conduct on-site Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) visits with requesting healthcare facilities across the entire state
- Assist with CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) data review, providing targeted outreach and education to healthcare facilities as needed
- Provide infection prevention and control consultation during times of potential healthcare-associated infection and/or multidrug-resistant organism clusters or outbreaks.
Minimum Qualifications: - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license within the state of Missouri and at least 2-4 years of recent, direct clinical RN experience within a healthcare settings, especially with infection prevention and control-related job duties
- Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC), or willingness to become certified within 1 year of hire
- Excellence written and oral communication skills across a variety of audience types
- Willingness to travel, sometimes hours at a time, and in accordance with established travel policies
- Demonstrated proficiency in common productivity software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
