- Lead technical projects, including database migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and platform integrations, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational standards.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for cross-functional teams, providing guidance on database-related decisions and solutions.
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members by sharing knowledge, reviewing work, and offering constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of team standards, best practices, and documentation guidelines.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and business teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient database solutions.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments, including configuration, patching, and upgrades.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal system efficiency and reliability.
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using SQL Server technologies.
- Apply advanced security practices, including role-based access control, auditing, and encryption.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using tools such as PowerShell or SQL Server Agent.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and platform-specific best practices.
- Participate in capacity planning and long-term infrastructure strategy discussions.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, data governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex database issues and incidents.
- Stay current with emerging SQL Server features, tools, and industry trends to inform platform improvements and modernization efforts.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture, components, and administrative tools.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning techniques, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and failover clustering.
- Experience with database security practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and auditing.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting tools, such as PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, or other task schedulers.
- Understanding of infrastructure concepts, including networking, storage, and virtualization as they relate to database performance and availability.
- Ability to lead technical projects, coordinate with stakeholders, and manage timelines and deliverables.
- Skill in mentoring and supporting junior team members, including reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex database issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, infrastructure staff, and business stakeholders.
- Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to create and maintain technical guides, SOPs, and architectural diagrams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives.
- Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with SQL Server advancements, industry trends, and best practices.
