Anti cipated Salary: $1,744.63 - Semi-monthly
(The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. Years of service adjustments, shift differentials, and other targeted salary payments are applied to the total compensation of your paycheck and are subject to eligibility requirements of the appropriate differential.)

St. Louis Developmental Disabilities Treatment Centers (SLDDTC) is currently recruiting to fill a “Benefit Program Specialist” position in the Reimbursements Department located at the Bellefontaine Habilitation Center at 10695 Bellefontaine Rd, St. Louis, MO 63137. The scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30 pm with some potential for alternate scheduling in the future, and the primary days off for this position are Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.
JOB DUTIES
© Interviews recipients and/or financially responsible persons to gather information concerning available resources for payment of care and treatment and obtain reimbursement for the State.
© Determines financial eligibility for commencement and/or continuation of services under federal entitlement programs.
© Determines the amount to be charged for a recipient's care and treatment based upon investigational findings and by application of a means test.
© Administers a facility reimbursement program of limited scope and complexity.
© Conducts interviews, obtains information for completion of financial questionnaires, and determines amounts to be charged for care and treatment.
© Serves as liaison with representatives of the Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, and other federal, state, local government, and private agencies to obtain and maximize reimbursements.
© Communicates with recipients' relatives, employers, financial institutions, insurance companies, and other persons or organizations to gather information concerning financial resources available to recipients which may be applied to their cost of care, treatment, and personal needs.
© Consults clerical staff involved in preparing entitlement and insurance applications, obtaining written consents, and gathering preliminary data for determination of ability to pay.
© Obtains written consent and authorization for the release of information; obtains insurance and governmental assignments of benefits; reviews public documents and records.
© Explains billing procedures and purpose of the reimbursement program to recipients and financially responsible persons.
© Prepares reports of investigations and findings.
© Responds to inquiries relating to payment for hospitalization or other services.
© Exercises some discretion and independent judgement in decision making within the time limits of established policies, directive, and regulations.
© Performs other related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Knowledge of the techniques of financial investigation, research, and resource identification. Knowledge of principles and techniques interviewing, and negotiation. Ability to interpret, explain, and apply policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements, pertaining to the assigned program(s). Must be skilled in computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Ability to provide direction or advice to program staff. Ability to perform community outreach activities .
ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS
2-4 years of relevant experience
DMH employees who have had a disciplinary action within the past 12 months will not be considered.
