ITSD-DOLIR has an opening for an AWS Solutions Architect. In this position, you will use your skills to design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions on Amazon Web Services. This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DOLIR).

- Advise staff in the adoption of AWS best practices, Well-Architected Framework principles, and cloud-native methodologies.
- Monitor AWS service updates and maintenance windows, working with other ITSD teams to ensure smooth cloud migrations and minimal impact of infrastructure changes.
- Assist in establishing AWS core competencies within cross-functional teams, as well as improving cloud development and deployment processes.
- Review project plans, SOW's and RFP's with focus on AWS feasibility, cloud security, and cost optimization analysis.
- Provides complex technical support and coordination on AWS security implementations, server migrations to EC2, decommissioning on-premises hardware, and cloud vendor relations.
- Direct interaction and advisement of all functional teams within ITSD and ITSD-DOLIR on cloud architecture decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 7 years in IT industry with emphasis in Cloud Architecture and Infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudFormation.
- Experience with Azure and Google Cloud Platform is preferable.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Okta, and M365 or SharePoint is preferable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS DevOps tools (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) and Git repository management. Must promote best practices for branching/merging, code promotion, and CI/CD processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud migration strategies, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Familiar with project planning, budgeting, cloud cost optimization, and architecture diagramming.
- Experience with a broad array of cloud automation, monitoring, and infrastructure modeling tools.
- Strong analysis, critical thinking, and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to mentor a dedicated team and work well with others inside and outside your reporting structure.
