DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Investigates all service requests for traffic related assets and creates work orders as needed within established deadlines. Engages with customers to ensure their reported concerns are clearly understood and serviced appropriately. Utilizes new computer technology, i.e. iPads, tablets, and mobile applications when performing field investigations. Submits work order designs for the placement/removal of traffic assets in accordance with the Texas Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices and SOPs. Supports special projects as needed
WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier II Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of experience in traffic and street utilization investigations are required.
An Associate’s degree in Drafting, Construction Management or a field related to the work being performed may substitute for two year of the education requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the work being performed may substitute for the education and experience requirements
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCES* *Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
