Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.

    Why you’ll love this position:

The Bureau of Environmental Health Services performs essential functions keeping people safe and healthy throughout Missouri, whether they are eating out at a restaurant, staying at a motel, visiting a water park, or have children in daycare. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can understand and apply environmental health regulations and scientific principles within the field of wastewater regulation. This position is in the Onsite Wastewater Program. If you’re looking for a challenging and rewarding professional career that promotes and protects public health then apply today!

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

    • Assist with the overall administration of the Onsite Wastewater Program.
    • Lead classroom training for onsite wastewater professionals.
    • Evaluate onsite wastewater treatment system construction permit applications and variance requests.
    • Conduct site visits/inspections of onsite wastewater treatment systems and issue construction permits and related paperwork.
    • Provide training and technical guidance to industry, local public health agencies, and the public.
    • Conduct field investigations of onsite wastewater treatment system complaints and issue related paperwork.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Public Health, or other applicable field of study (substitutions for experience will be considered).
    • Three or more years of experience in onsite wastewater.
    • Understanding of onsite wastewater treatment laws, rules, systems, system components, engineering, and environmental factors that affect wastewater treatment and dispersal.
    • Advanced classroom educator skills and/or the ability and commitment to quickly develop them.
    • Ability to travel in and out of state, including occasional overnight stays on short notice. Valid driver's license required.
    • Moderate physical effort and mobility is required, i.e. driving vehicles, climbing stairs, negotiating outdoor terrain, walking/standing for hours at a time and frequent stooping/bending.
    • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to communicate clearly, appropriately, and effectively; attention to detail

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
