The Registered Nurse performs professional nursing work in providing clinical health care to County residents. Work involves coordinating and providing services of an assigned public health clinic, including obtaining personal and routine medical information from clients, administering medications and vaccinations, and counseling clients on proper hygiene and health care practices. 
Examples of DutiesProvides client education. 
Communicates test results, responds to patient inquiries via telephone, and schedules follow-up appointments as needed. 
Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processes lab requisitions. 
Disposes of all biological waste appropriately. 
Ensures patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, and complete patient consent documentation for procedures and records requests. Administers immunizations.
Prepares clients for provider exam by updating vital signs, medical histories, medications, and current complaints in the medical record (eClinicalWorks).
Performs point-of-care testing such as glucose, a1c, TB testing, urinalysis, and EKG. 
Prepares exam room for and assist provider with procedures such as suturing, wound care, and other minor surgeries using aseptic technique.
Administers medications and vaccines as prescribed. 
Documents all procedures in the EMR, and send referrals to outside providers.
Sterilizes surgical equipment and tracks medication and supply orders. 
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum QualificationsAssociate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
Must be cross-trained in different immunizations within 90 days of employment.
