The Division of Finance and Administrative Services-Grants and Cost Allocation Unit is the Department’s financial team responsible for cost allocation and financial reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team and play a key role in the efficient and accurate completion of Medicaid financial process, including the bi-weekly Medicaid provider payroll.
The work hours for this position are 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday.
 What you’ll do: • Apply basic accounting principles to financial data to ensure accuracy.
• Accurately enter documents in the state’s accounting system (SAMII).
• Correspond with internal and external contacts regarding payment and coding related questions and issues in a concise and timely manner.
• Maintain and reconcile financial data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and record journal entries for various accounting transactions.
• Prepare and maintain weekly, bi-monthly, monthly and quarterly reports for use in federal reporting.
• Maintain a highly organized and accurate audit trail to support all work products.
• Assist with preparing responses to inquiries regarding federal financial participation and financial reports, including accurate and timely state and federal audit resolution.
 Qualifications:  -  Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.) 
-  Experience with the state’s accounting system (SAM II) is preferred. 
Desired Skills:• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.
• Great attention to detail and highest degree of accuracy in work products.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage time to meet deadlines.
• Ability to examine, account for, reconcile, analyze, and interpret accounting data and records.
• Ability to research, interpret, and apply rules, regulations or other guidance to financial reporting processes.
