    The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS), Family Support Division (FSD), is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Manager to serve as the Project Management Office (PMO) Supervisor. This leadership role is based in Jefferson City, Missouri This position is located at the Howerton State Office Building; 615 Howerton Court, Jefferson City, MO

    As the PMO Supervisor, you will lead a team of program specialists responsible for delivering a portfolio of Systems transformation projects across the department. You will oversee the development and implementation of project management standards, tools, and metrics to ensure consistent, high-quality project execution. This position plays a critical role in coaching and mentoring program specialists, managing performance, and driving continuous improvement in project delivery.

    Duties to include, but not limited to:

    • Supervise, coach, and support a team of program specialists in the planning and execution of Systems projects.
    • Establish and maintain PMO standards, templates, and best practices aligned with industry frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, Agile).
    • Monitor project performance metrics, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
    • Provide day-to-day oversight of project activities, including resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
    • Lead performance management activities including goal setting, evaluations, and professional development planning for PMO staff.
    • Facilitate project reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership, ITSD, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex project issues.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, public administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

    Or

    5-7 years of professional experience in project management, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.

    Preferred experience:

    • Proven experience managing multiple complex projects and leading project teams.
    • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet).
    • PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar certification is highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
