Your San Bernardino County employment must be clearly listed in your work experience. Enterprise Systems Support Managers (ESSMs)whodirect and manage the work of staff involved in the support of enterprise-level information technology infrastructure, systems, and software throughout the county. This position assumes a leadership role for managing countywide strategic IT planning, and is responsible for leading various complex projects impacting multiple departments , serving as an integral part of the change management process.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously that result in the selection of technology solutions for hardware and software infrastructure that will be used countywide.
- Managing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of infrastructure projects and in conjunction delegating assignments to team members who are allocated to a system team.
- Leading IT staff on enterprise infrastructure hosting such as applications, databases, and servers through utilizing industry best practices and methodologies.
- Coordinating the implementation and maintenance of new systems that are data center hosted and/or cloud hosted.
- Leading the collaborative efforts of technical personnel across all departments in the transport, security, and exchange of data between computing systems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.
Availability: Incumbents must be willing to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in support of a 24/7 operation. Positions are subject to emergency call backs and may be assigned to various work locations throughout the County without advance notice.
Physical Requirements: Duties may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds; bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements Qualifying candidates must meet the requirements in ALL of the following categories: EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of work experience in an enterprise systems management environment architecting, engineering, and integrating solutions*.
Experience must include architecting and implementing enterprise solutions in a large organization setting with at least two (2) of the following technologies:
- Database Platforms
- Enterprise Content Management
- Enterprise Virtualization Platform
- Enterprise OS Platforms
- Enterprise Applications
LEADERSHIP: Three (3) years providing full-scope supervision, or acting as a project lead, to a team performing systems management.
EDUCATION:
Sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units of completed college-level courses in information systems, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement.
* Qualifying experience may include performing duties equivalent to the San Bernardino County Systems Support Supervisor classification and above.
Desired QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in information systems , computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
