Job Location: Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks (1107 W. Chestnut Expressway, Springfield, MO 65802)
Why you’ll love this position:The traffic intern reviews and approves work relating to roadway access, traffic handling, and reviews traffic signal timing and traffic count data. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
- Review and adjust traffic signal timing.
- Collect and review traffic count data.
- Create and review traffic models.
- Review and approve proposed plans for construction on department right of way for feasibility with regard to drainage, sight distance, landscaping, curbing, traffic flow, and related requirements; make recommendation for modification.
- Conduct field inspections of projects and work zones, and performs measurements of traffic control devices to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
- Prepare reports and correspondence for presentation in department and public meetings.
- Submit proposals and studies to supervisor or to the Traffic Division for review and approval.
- Assist department personnel with traffic related issues.
- May assist traffic engineer with striping layouts, signal observation studies, traffic studies, and lighting requests.
- Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Enrolled in a relevant ABET-accredited bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
- 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
- Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
