Full-time position available with the City Manager's Office, City Communications, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $23.98-$36.60/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours :Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with some nights and weekends required.

Responsibilities
The City of Kansas City's Communications Division is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Videographer and video editor to join our communications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for filming in challenging and dynamic environments as well as post-production and editing. This role requires expertise in videography, proficiency in editing software and the ability to thrive in fast-paced and demanding settings. This role demands a passionate and adaptable individual capable of combining technical expertise with creative storytelling skills to deliver exceptional video content.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Utilizes professional-grade equipment to capture high-quality footage in various settings (e.g. busy airports, press conferences, remote locations).
- Ensures all necessary equipment is properly set up, maintained and functional before and throughout filming sessions.
- Adapts quickly to changing environmental conditions to achieve optimal video quality and storytelling.
- Collaborates with team members to conceptualize and execute video projects that align with the vision and goals of the subject matter and the City's standards.
- Contributes innovative ideas and creative approaches to enhance video content in challenging environments.
- Edits and enhances raw footage to produce polished and compelling videos, from start to finish, that meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Implements video and sound editing techniques, color correction and visual effects to enhance the final product.
- Maintains and organize video equipment, ensuring it is in optimal condition for use in demanding environments.
Troubleshoots technical issues and perform routine maintenance on cameras, audio gear and other filming equipment. - Recommends equipment upgrades to maintain technological superiority.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including content creators, division colleagues and onsite customer contacts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and efficient processes.
- Manages all assigned projects within our project and digital asset management systems.
- Communicates effectively to understand project specifications, deadlines and expectations.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in mass communication, television production or communication studies; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience in video shooting and editing for television stations or production companies.
Preference given to candidates with experience in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, etc.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
