    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport EVS Administrator position. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and memorable experience for our guests by ensuring the airport and common areas are consistently clean, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. This involves planning, organizing and supervising/overseeing Environmental Services (EVS) staff, community service workers, and/or service contractor activities through direct reports.

    The position entails the strategic planning and management of a large EVS team, operating in a 24/7 operation, to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety across all airport facilities. This role requires significant interaction with the traveling public, tenants, and vendors, as well as close coordination with airport maintenance staff. Other key responsibilities also include budget preparation, equipment and material selection, the development of policies, procedures, work standards and maintaining/increasing team member morale.

    The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills both written and oral, an ability to multi-task and prioritize work, and a demonstrated track record of providing exceptional leadership in a similar setting to a large airport.

    Note: This position is confidential and excluded from membership in the union. Also, this classification is designated exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and is therefore, not eligible for overtime.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college level coursework and four (4) years of full-time supervisory experience in EVS, custodial or housekeeping services work in an airport or other similar environment. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

    Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application.

    Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Must pass the airport's Badging Security Class with a ramp designation upon initial appointment and complete a Clark County Defensive Driving Class during probationary/qualifying period.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    Residency Requirement: Permanent employee must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

    Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle in order to inspect work sites and attend meetings; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.     EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Projects a positive image while communicating with guests and team members with various socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, in a friendly manner, answers questions, and provides standard information; directs guests to department’s Guest Services team when unable to accurately address guest’s needs.
    • Actively coaches, mentors and develops employees.
    • Plans goals, objectives, procedures and work standards for the unit.
    • Prepares budget specifications for EVS, equipment and supplies.
    • Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of a large EVS staff through subordinate supervisors.
    • Provides for the training of staff in work procedures.
    • Supervises hiring interviews for EVS staff; recommends selection of staff; administers discipline.
    • Conducts performance appraisals for assigned assistant administrators; reviews performance appraisals for all EVS staff.
    • Coordinates the utilization of manpower and equipment in conjunction with the airport maintenance staff.
    • Provides for the inspection of work in progress and upon completion to ensure the quality and completeness of work performed.
    • Recommends and negotiates contractual service agreements for the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment.
    • Reviews leave requests and timecards; directs the maintenance of attendance records of subordinates.
    • Manages the Community Service Program, overseeing the supervision, orientation and training of community service workers.
    • Ensures that staff follows safe working procedures, including using the proper safety equipment; prepares written documentation for violations of Department of Aviation rules and regulations.
    • Conducts regular staff meetings with supervisory and EVS staff.
    • Monitors developments in equipment, materials and procedures in the custodial field; recommends changes and develops and implements specifications and work standard changes as appropriate.
    • Contributes to the overall quality of the division's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
    • Promptly reports lost items, which may include high-value items, to the Lost & Found office and/or Terminal Operations Coordinators.
    • Attends customer contact trainings.
    • May assist in guest line queuing during high passenger volume periods and movement of guests’ luggage during irregular airport operations.
    • May assist during planned and unplanned fire/life safety system outages; responsible for door and fire watch to ensure facility security on assigned shift.
    • Reviews design drawings and specifications for airport construction projects for EVS and maintenance implications.
    • Prepares a variety of correspondence, periodic and special reports and other written materials.
    • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, mobile devices, such as cell phones, handheld radios, or other computer equipment.
    • Drives a personal or department motor vehicle to various terminals and/or work sites within the airport complex in order to conduct inspections and/or attend meetings.
