- Operates large, heavy industrial equipment and/or semi-trailer equipment, which requires a substantial degree of monitoring and/or coordination of the working attachments used in construction, earthmoving, and/or hauling heavy equipment and ground and waste materials and performs light to heavy physical labor.
- The Drainage Technician Sr. Crew Leader is expected to provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, training, and instruction to employees less experienced.
- Acts as the lead in the absence of a supervisor, ensuring that work is completed according to City standards.
- Distinguished from the Crew Leader position by providing more formal supervision and leadership.
- Typical work will be operating any and all City owned equipment including
- Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed.
- Performs safety inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains activity reports.
- Provides assistance to other drivers as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent; AND three years’ experience in Public Works maintenance and repair operations, including two years of supervisory or lead work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION: Possession of a valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily in an outdoor work environment. May be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. May be required to work in confined spaces. May be required to climb ladders. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
