Why you’ll love this position:The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is looking for an positive, energetic, and caring Recreation/Music Therapist Supervisor to provide services as part of one of our innovative interdisciplinary treatment teams to mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery based environment.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitation of recreation therapy or music therapy based groups with 2-15+ individuals that focuses on addressing treatment based goals assigned by the treatment team (Behavioral goals, educational goals, social goals, leisure goals, etc.)
- Facilitation of individual music therapy sessions with individuals that are appropriate for and would benefit from such services
- Clinical Documentation (documentation of services, treatment recommendations, incident reports various other documentation required)
- Accepting/denying music therapy referrals, and associated documentation
- Assisting in the supervision of interns

- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Music Therapy or Recreation Therapy
- Board Certification through the Certification Board of Music Therapists (CBMT) or American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)
