    Job Description

    This position will be located at Lewis and Clark State Park, 801 Lake Crest Blvd., Rushville, MO. This position typically works Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Shifts may vary occasionally with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility.

    • Perform a variety of skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural and cultural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
    • Complete skilled work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, heating and cooling, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds.
    • This position will be required to conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of public facilities, including restrooms, campsites, and park and historic site grounds. Attention to detail is required in these tasks.
    • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment such as chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
    • Ability to safely operate and maintain chainsaws to include experience felling trees.
    • Plan, organize, and inventory parts/supplies and maintain a running database.
    • This position will be working with a diverse client base, including members of the public and other park staff. The ability to work well with others, willingness to learn, and a positive outlook will assist the candidate in being successful in this position.
    • Assist with prescribed burns as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities.
    • Oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.


    This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required, and if you do not currently possess these license/certifications, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

    • Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
    • Electrical: Knowledge of electrical equipment, components, instruments, and systems, including their design, installation, testing, uses, repair, or maintenance.
    • Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • Four to six years of on-the-job training in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trades.
