    Job Description

    This position will be located at Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, Missouri.

    • Conduct operator training courses, including drinking water distribution and drinking water treatment certification courses.
    • Provide compliance and technical assistance to water systems, both in the office and onsite.
    • Schedule and conduct environmental inspections and investigations at public water systems.
    • Prepare documentation that is timely and accurate (reports, correspondence, photographs, data entry, and forms) and conduct follow-up work for timely compliance.
    • Perform monitoring and sampling, as needed.
    • Maintain analytical equipment, reagents, sampling and laboratory supplies and develop and coordinate the quality assurance/quality control program for field and laboratory equipment.
    • Perform other related work as assigned.


    Preferred qualifications include a Missouri “C” certificate of competency or above for drinking water treatment and Missouri “DS-II” certificate of competency or above for water distribution.

    If you do not currently possess a certificate of competency for drinking water treatment or water distribution, you will be given twelve months to obtain a Missouri “D” certificate of competency for drinking water treatment and Missouri “DS-I” certificate of competency for water distribution.

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • A bachelor's degree in a preferred degree program, which would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Soil Science, Ecology, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
    • Four to six years of relevant experience.
