Full-time position available with the KC Water Meter Field Services Division located at 1720 Wabash Ave. Salary Range: $14.82-$23.16/hour Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Locates and manipulates valves and keys to regulate the water system. Operates tapping machines to make major water main line taps. Lays pipe by hand or by guiding the activities of a backhoe, hoist or crane operation. Operates various types of motorized construction and maintenance equipment. Operates jackhammer in cutting and breaking concrete, asphalt or rock; removes waste material from work site. Drives dump truck for hauling construction material. Assists in the completion of water service turn-offs due to delinquent consumer accounts. Sets and repairs all inch and a half to ten inch meters; sets and programs MTUs (meter transferring units) for the AMR system; and responds to all meter leaks and issues for commercial accounts and wholesale customers City wide. Qualifications REQUIRES high school diploma or GED and 1 year of utility maintenance and repair experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The HVACR Specialist II will be directly under the supervisor of the Facility Supervisor III and will be working directly with inmates. They will be operating and performing preventative maintenance on Air Conditioning systems; Refrigeration/Heat transfer systems; Air Handlers; kitchen equipment and Auxiliary Components. The incumbent will monitor vacuum indication instruments, oil levels and temperatures; set time clocks; lubricate rotating equipment; perform water quality and air balance tests; troubleshoot control and equipment malfunctions; repair inoperable equipment; and is responsible for installing, fabricating and retrofitting equipment and components to update systems or replace obsolete or worn parts. Logs will be kept of system operating conditions and prepare maintenance reports in order to track system maintenance, repairs and associated costs. The HVACR II will observe safe practices at all times, observe safety of self, others and the care of Department property, equipment and vehicles and follow Department accident reporting procedures.
