We are looking for someone to fill our Principal Analyst role. Our ideal candidate is innovative, motivated, and passionate about their work.

Essential Job Functions How you will be involved
Principal Analyst, Human Resources in Occupational Health and Leave Management and Disability Compliance division is responsible in providing operating departments with professional services, guidance and oversight in the administration of Countywide Occupational Health and Leave Management programs.
Sometasks that Principal Analyst, Human Resources will perform are:
- Functions as the Los Angeles County's expert on all matters related to occupational health or leave management and disability compliance.
- Plans and organizes work in resolving highly complex policy issues and problems related to pre-employment/post-offer medical examinations, employees' periodic medical examinations, wellness medical examinations, fitness for duty examinations and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing; or protected leave management, lactation program, disability compliance and management, and disability benefits.
- Supervises professional and support staff assigned to Occupational Health Services section or Leave Management and Disability Compliance section.
- Assists in the formulation of Countywide Human Resources policies and procedures related to occupational health or leave management and disability compliance.
- Acts as a liaison on behalf of Department of Human Resourceswith the Board of Supervisors, the Chief Executive Office, and various County departments on all matters related occupational health or leave management and disability compliance.
- Coordinates the preparation of correspondence, reports and studies related to occupational health or leave management and disability compliance.
- Researches and provides written and oral responses and presentation to departmental management countywide, the Board of Supervisors and a wide variety of officials and agencies regarding legislation, employee inquiries or complaints and other issues as needed.
Requirements Selection Requirements:
Three years of highly responsible professional human resources experience analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems in areas regulated by the Federal and State laws governing disability compliance (return-to-work), protected leaves of absence and/or occupational health practices at the level of Los Angeles classes of Human Resources Analyst IV *, Administrative Services Manager III **, Departmental Human Resources Manager I *** or higher.Physical Class
2 - Light. Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.License
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.Special Requirement Information
*Experience at the level of Human Resources Analyst IV (Item #1913) includes advanced journey level work as a lead to lower staff independently analyzing, developing, and making recommendations for the solution of complex problems in analysis and administration of countywide human resources programs.
**Experience at the level of Administrative Services Manager III (Item #1004) includes directing, through subordinate, professional administrative supervisors, a section composed of multiple units responsible for providing professional administrative services. These positions are typically located in the central administrative office of line departments and report to a higher-level manager.
*** Experience at the level of Departmental Human Resources Manager I (Item #1883) includes experience planning, directing, administering and evaluating all human resource functions for a small size County Department (having less than 200 employees) with significant personnel operations and activities. Departmental Human Resources Manager I positions assists executive level managers in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental short and long term human resources related strategic goals and objectives; and provide strategic direction and recommendations to executive management on personnel management issues that impact departmental organizational structure, operations, and programs.Endorsement of County Qualifications

Only those whoachieveapassing score of 70% or higher on Part I will be invited to Parts IIand III. If youdo not pass, youwill be notified by via e-email or USPS mail.
- Part II isa multiple choiceassessment coveringQuantitative Problem Solving, Reading Comprehension, Reasoning, and Data Interpretation.
- Part III isawritingassessmentweighted 20% measuring English Structure andContent,WrittenExpression,andPrioritizingInformation.
BothPartsIIandIIIwillbeadministeredonthesameday. Only those who achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the combined scores for Parts I and II will have their writing assessment scored and calculated.
Applicants must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each weighted part of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.
Final results will be sent via email or U.S. mail. Test scores cannot be given over the phone.
