The Public Works Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the activities of a work unit in the Department of Public Works. Reporting to the Director or Assistant Director, the Public Works Manager provides professional and technical staff assistance. The incumbent exercises independent judgment relating to the performance, coordination and evaluation of staff and selects, trains and motivates them. The Public Works Manager within the Construction Management Division has strong knowledge of construction techniques and engineering principles as well as significant understanding of applicable codes, statutes and regulations. The Public Works Manager is a key member of the management team in the Department of Public Works.
The City is seeking a strong leader who can effectively collaborate with staff, other City divisions and outside consultants to accomplish its mission while successfully implementing new innovative procedures, equipment and technology.
Qualified Candidates Must Possess:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction, public administration, or a closely related field; and four (4) years of experience supervising technical engineering or construction management activities. For this assignment within Construction Management, additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis, up to four years.
