    About the Role

    The City of Orlando’s Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Event Assistant to support park pavilion and rental reservations across the city. This temporary/seasonal role is an excellent entry point for individuals interested in public service, event coordination, hospitality, or municipal administration.

    This position is primarily office-based and focuses on customer communication, reservations, and payment processing.

    What You’ll Do

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for park rental inquiries via phone and email

    • Assist customers with selecting appropriate parks and rental spaces based on event needs

    • Guide customers through the reservation process, including fees, policies, and requirements

    • Process rental applications, agreements, and payments accurately and efficiently

    • Maintain organized records within the City’s reservation and payment systems

    • Develop working knowledge of City of Orlando parks, amenities, and rental policies

    • Provide general administrative support related to rentals and special events



    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Professional, customer-service-oriented approach

    • Ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining attention to detail

    • Comfortable working in an administrative, office-based environment

    • Interest in event planning, hospitality, or local government

    • Prior experience in customer service or administrative support is helpful, but not required

    • Prior experience with reservation software such as Active, ActiveNet, or RecTrac is helpful, but not required

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required

    • Two (2) years of administrative or customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required

    • Ability to learn and use reservation and payment software preferred

    • Strong customer service skills preferred

    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred, but not required



    THIS IS A PART_TIME_POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEEED.

    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;

    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
