    Looking for a career where your organizational skills and attention to detail truly matter? Fort Worth Water is hiring an Administrative Technician to support its Field Operations Division, one of the City's largest and most essential departments serving nearly one million residents.

    In this fast-paced, collaborative office environment, you will play a key role in keeping daily operations running smoothly. The position supports payroll and benefits processing, supports recruitment and onboarding efforts, and provides essential administrative support to the division.

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, values public service, and wants to expand their skills in HR and administrative operations. Whether entering data in PeopleSoft, helping onboard new hires, special projects, or troubleshooting day-to-day office needs, your work will directly contribute to the reliability of Fort Worth's vital water infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience in administrative support, strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail and time management. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, adapt quickly to changing situations, and communicate effectively while collaborating across teams. A proactive, team-oriented mindset and the ability to build strong working relationships are essential, along with a strong attendance record.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate's degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Office Administration or a related field
    • Minimum Two (2) years of clerical and administrative experience
    • Strong organizational skills, time management, attention to detail and follow-through, and experience handling multiple priorities and projects. serve as a supporting Human Resources Coordinator (HRC), including payroll processing, benefits enrollment, recruitment support, special projects, and other administrative task as assigned
    • Ensure smooth operations and adherence to established policies and procedures
    • Provide exceptional customer serviceto both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to a positive and effective work environment

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous administrative experience with a large municipality
    • Two (2) years' Experience looking up data and/or making entries in PeopleSoft (ERP)
    • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
    • Advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft (or similar Human Capital Management system) with experience in position management and processing personnel actions
    • Experience in interpreting and applying policies and procedures
    • Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service, documentation, and report preparation
    • Demonstrated adaptability and a proactive approach to managing HR challenges and tasks

    The Administrative Technician job responsibilities include:
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization coupled with the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times
    • Providing staff support, including serving as backup for other staff positions in their absence and performing related duties as assigned
    • Demonstrating customer focus, teamwork and adaptability to a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment as well as communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Work independently while actively participating in a team environment
    • Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations
    • Troubleshoot issues for positive outcomes
    • Full time position working in office team environment

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands

    Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/ or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Depending on the assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

    • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
    • Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
