    A Sr. Professional Engineer - In House Design job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department's In-house Design Group of the Infrastructure Division. The position manages, coordinates, supervises and provides professional engineering expertise in the design and construction of civil engineering projects. Including the preparation, engineering reviews, evaluations and approval of a variety of engineering and constructions documents, including drawings, plans, designs, contract documents, technical specification, cost estimates, environmental documents and reports for our Small-Scale Infrastructure Program and development In-fill related projects.

    Essential duties of the role shall also include the requirements to track and analyze expenditures related to contract programs, and provide reports and other documentation related to project activities

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
    • Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer of which two (2) years must be within or related to the area of assigned responsibility
    • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six (6) months of employment

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Eight (8) or more years of engineering experience, including extensive related project and municipal design experience
    • Strong working knowledge and experience in analyzing and designing all aspects of project management, design and construction of public infrastructure
    • Experience working in a high-paced environment with competing deadlines
    • Proficient in design with experience with AutoCAD

    The Sr Professional Engineer - In House Design job responsibilities include:
    • Performs professional civil engineering work including the design, inspection and contract administration of water and wastewater facilities, traffic mitigation, facility planning and related capital improvement areas
    • Direct and coordinate various engineering programs and projects
    • Develop, review and modify engineering plans, designs, and specifications
    • Prepare, review and evaluate construction bids, cost estimates, change orders and related financial impact analyses
    • Designs the necessary modifications and/or new construction of public works streets, water, and related projects within City, County, State and Federal guidelines

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    Vacation

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
