QualificationsThe minimum and preferred requirements are listed below.While the following requirements outline the minimum qualifications, Human Resources reserves the right to select applicants for further consideration who demonstrate the best qualifications match for the job. Environmental Health Specialist IMinimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in environmental health, sanitation, biological science or related field and letter of approval from the California State Department of Health Services to enter the Environmental Health Specialist training program.
Preferred:In addition to the I-level minimum, some demonstrated experience in the environmental health field in a paid, intern or volunteer capacity.
Environmental Health Specialist IIMinimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in environmental health, sanitation, biological science or related field, California Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, and one (1) year of environmental health experience.
Preferred:In addition to the II-level minimum, two (2) years of professional level environmental health experience in a public agency.
Environmental Health Specialist IIIMinimum:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in environmental health, sanitation, biological science or related field, California Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, and three (3) years of professional environmental health experience with at least one (1) year equivalent to the Environmental Health Specialist II.
Preferred:In addition to the minimum, an advanced degree with major coursework as defined above and up to four (4) years of professional environmental health experience equivalent to the County’s class of Environmental Health Specialist II.
Licenses and Certification:- The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; maintain throughout employment.
- Possess California Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist before progression to the II level and maintain throughout employment.
- Maintain professional development and continuing education activities as required to maintain valid certifications required for this position.
Special Requirements:- May be required to work extended hours or be called-back in emergency situations.
- Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough background investigation which may include Live Scan fingerprinting prior to hire.
- DMV printout prior to hire.
- Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.
SALARY: Level I: $5,391 - $5,931/Monthly (DOE) Level II: $5,957 - $6,553/Monthly (DOE) Level III: $6,582 - $7,241/Monthly (DOE) This position is represented by the Yuba County Employees' Association (YCEA).
