For more details, review the full job details and requirements below.The Economy Intern is responsible for monitoring and analyzing governmental services including delivery strategies, costs, results and comparative performance for the Economy Focus Area and the City of Olathe. They provide coordination, expertise and knowledge to departments in preparation of multi-year strategic plan implementation, annual budgets, and quality improvement projects, all requiring a wide variety of analytical, reporting, and financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities - Monitors existing revenue sources and prepares supporting forecasts; collaborates with different departments on varying financial requests.
- Assists with Olathe’s internal and external performance discussions through detailed analysis that supports uncovering the story behind the data sets; synthesizes and presents complex data sources
- Helps execute government accounting and financial practices and procedures providing an opportunity to enhance hard skills such as: Excel, financial management system and reporting software knowledge.
Qualifications Experience: Possess strong organizational skills and familiarity with computer software such as MS-Word, Excel and other related computer applications.
Education: This internship requires that the candidate be pursuing or have recently obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a master's degree (or pursuit of) in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field preferred.
Licenses & Certifications: None required.
Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language required. Additional proficiency with Spanish and American Sign Language
preferred.
