Job Description:Airport Facility SupervisorPurpose:Under general direction, this position supervises personnel responsible for coordinating work and leading staff that provide facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general and detailed cleaning and disinfecting services, and moving and arranging services throughout Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and the AUS campus.
Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Supervises Facility Services staff to include facility maintenance, security, emergency services, cleaning, and moving and arranging services for AUS terminals and campus.
- Provides information to Facility Services staff about airport operations to ensure airport and customers’ needs are met.
- Performs administrative duties and responsibilities including preparing correspondence; distributing information to airport tenants; and documenting inspections and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and materials.
- Checks inventory to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and that supplies and equipment are ordered as needed.
- Provides customer service by responding to requests and assisting City employees, airport tenants, and airport customers. Interacts with airport tenants, Aviation divisions, City departments, and the general public to accomplish assignments and projects, coordinate events, and resolve issues.
- Develops division policies, procedures, and inspection programs.
- Assists in the development and monitoring of the division’s budget.
- Stays abreast of technology and techniques related to facility services and aviation industries.
- Enforces department’s safety, security, and operational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

- Knowledge of airport janitorial processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and mandates; and City, departmental, State, and Local rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of FAA and TSA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) regulations and requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience related to janitorial services, including one (1) year of experience which was in a lead or supervisory capacity. C
- Completion of (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required: Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a diverse team of custodial and janitorial staff, including the ability to proactively address and resolve workplace conflicts.
- Demonstrated experience and proven ability to anticipate operational needs, establish clear goals and expectations, develop measurable performance indicators, and provide effective solutions while balancing competing priorities and demands.
- Experience in practicing strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally to various levels of an organization.
- Experience in displaying effective change management skills, including the ability to guide teams through organizational and departmental transitions while maintaining engagement and operational continuity.
Notes to Candidate:The Airport Facility Supervisor position will reside in Austin Aviation's Facility Services division.
This position will provide supervision to the facility service personnel that are responsible for:
- performing customer service
- duties that ensure a secured and safe environment which includes general and detailed cleaning maintenance for all airport facilities interior
- preparing the airport facilities for events and make ready service
- assisting airline baggage system operators with baggage handling requests
This position will regularly communicate with Asset Management and have a working knowledge of City of Austin and Aviation purchasing policies/procedures in order to obtain PO/DO's for goods and services from appropriate authorized vendors. This position monitors sub-contractors including contract management. This position performs administrative duties/responsibilities by preparing information for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions; completing and approving time sheets, leave time, etc.; reviewing and approving logs, forms, etc.; document the monitoring, maintenance, and repairing of vehicles, equipment, and materials; develop and generate spreadsheets, reports, etc.; conduct inventory analysis to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained; order supplies and equipment as needed; prepare correspondence to initiate/distribute information.
This position will perform functional duties such as providing customer service by answering questions/requests and providing assistance to City employees, airport tenants, and airport customers; interact with other divisions, departments, and the general public to accomplish assignment/projects; develop and maintain knowledge and skill in facility-related work.
Driver’s Requirement:This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.
This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.
Pre-Employment Physical:This is a physically demanding position that will require being able to perform the following essential job functions without accommodations. This position will require consistently carrying or lifting up to 50 lbs., consistent pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs., frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting and lying, occasional climbing of stairs and ladders, repetitive motions and vibration, frequent reaching/stretching overhead, crawling, and twisting, consistent kneeling, stooping/bending, and repetitive hand/foot movement, consistent hand and finger dexterity, and grasping or squeezing for most of their workday.

Employees must also be able to hear, read, understand, and speak basic English to communicate with supervisors, dispatchers, and citizens.
The selected candidate will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment physical exam to be considered for this position, which includes a Functional (FC) strength/agility test.
Essential Personnel:This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled.

Shift Incentive:Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.
Salary:$65,390.00 - $81,740.00
